Always Seek His Help

Memorise

"In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

— Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)

Read: Psalm 118:5-14 (KJV)

5 I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place. 6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? 7 The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. 8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes. 10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord will I destroy them. 11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord I will destroy them. 12 They compassed me about like bees: they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the Lord I will destroy them. 13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the Lord helped me. 14 The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

Bible in One Year: Mark 14-15

Message

I recall a time when my father was sitting in an armchair in front of the house, taking in the fresh air. I was also outside, playing football. Suddenly, I kicked the ball high, and it landed on the roof of the house. The roof of the house was thatched, so when the ball landed, it just stayed there. I then went to get a long stick to dislodge the ball from the roof. However, each time I tried to bring the ball down, it kept moving back, and I couldn't see it because I was still a young boy with a small stature. After going at it for a while, I got tired. Then, I went to my father and said, "Daddy, please help me; my ball is on the roof." My father then said, "You saw me sitting here, but you thought you could do it on your own." Then, he got up and, in one attempt, he brought the ball down.

Beloved, if you do things your own way, God will not interfere in your matters. He doesn't force Himself on people; He only helps those who genuinely need His help and ask for it. The popular saying that heaven helps those who help themselves doesn't apply to God. It is a worldly slogan because God only helps those who are genuinely in need and humbly approach Him for help. Psalm 34:6 says: "This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles."

Someone who is poor is genuinely in need of something. Such a person acknowledges God as the only One who can help him or her. In Revelation 3:14-17, the Lord scolded the Laodicean church for calling themselves rich when, indeed, they were poor, wretched, and blind. Those who think they can do it all by themselves are living in deceit. God will fold His arms and watch them struggle, and until they cry to Him for help, they will keep running around in circles. When babies stretch out their arms, it means that they are ready to be carried.

Beloved, open your arms wide today, and let God carry you. Involve Him in all you do so that you will not struggle to do the things He can help you do with ease.

Prayer Point

Dear Lord, please take control of every area of my life and grant me ease in all that I do.

Anchor Text — The Lord will perfect that which concerns me

"The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands." — Psalm 138:8 (NKJV)

The Architect is Dedicated (God's Initiative). The first word of the verse is "The Lord." It is not your strength, wisdom or ability that makes you responsible for finishing — it is up to God. Just as a builder is in charge of the work he does, God is in charge of the life He made (Philippians 1:6; Hebrews 12:2). If He started it, He intends to finish it.

The Meaning of "Perfect" (God's Way). The Hebrew word gamar means to bring to an end, to complete, to accomplish or to perform. It doesn't mean life will be problem-free; it means God will make sure His plans for your life come true (Psalm 57:2; Job 23:14).

The Scope is Broad. God cares about more than your spiritual life — your family, health, job, worries and hopes. If it bothers you, He will pay attention to it (1 Peter 5:7; Matthew 6:31-32).

The Guarantee is His Mercy. David appeals to God's mercy (Hesed — covenant love) rather than his own righteousness. We can trust God to perfect our lives, not because we are perfect, but because His mercy is never-ending (Lamentations 3:22-23; 2 Timothy 2:13).

Congregational Hymn — My Faith Looks Up to Thee

Verse 1

My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
be wholly Thine.

Verse 2

May Thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart,
my zeal inspire;
as Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire.

Verse 3

While life's dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be Thou my Guide;
bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow's tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from Thee aside.

Verse 4

When ends life's transient dream,
when death's cold, sullen stream
shall o'er me roll,
blest Savior, then in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul.

Declaration for the Year 2026

I am blessed, favored, and sought after. In this year 2026, the Lord will perfect all that concerns me, my family, and the church. We are enveloped in His mercy and find our strength in His defense while our hearts remain at rest. The heavens over us are opened perpetually and our mouths shall always be filled with a new song. In 2026, peace is my boundary and abundance is my portion. The Lord will exalt my horn and lay His right hand of power upon me. No one shall stand before me, for the earth shall yield her increase to me in this season. My joy shall be full. I cover myself and my testimonies with the blood of Jesus. 2026 must obey me and shall end in praise. Welcome to your best year yet. It's a new dawn of glory.Amen, Amen, Amen in Jesus' name. HALLELUYAH!!!
